Flattop: Passed first test

After a couple days of getting the bridge set up properly and a bit of truss rod adjustment, the Flattop is playing beautifully. This Wednesday is Curio practice, so if I can get make it through that without feedback, then I've really done it… we shall see.

I set out to make this bass easier to play and I'm happy to say that has been achieved. For 1: it sits perfectly with a strap—no neck dive or weirdness. 2: It's not too heavy—by far lighter than my short-scale semi-hollow and (hard to say without a scale) it seems just a touch lighter than the P-Bass-Man. 3: it's actually the narrowest neck of my three basses, by removing the binding and some wood, I took nearly 1/4" of width off of the neck. Also, it's (the neck is) slightly asymmetrical… I've taken a bit off the inside near the headstock and a bit off the outside by the body to account for the way your hand moves up and down the neck.

Here's Watson giving it the once over…
