Superman Asteroid




In the spirit of good clean fun I decide to draw from the above Lagunitas prompt in the latest issue of Juxtapoz. It happened to coincide with an idea to write haikus. Here is my first one:

Poetry will save
the world poets say, but
they are full of shit.

That was a formal response to a gut reaction I had while reading Walden. But it got me thinking of working up a series of haiku drawings (haiga). At the top of this post is the first one, which takes us on a winding trip through time in North America from Viking discovery to first peoples, to the age of mammals (sabertooth tiger) to the age of dinosaurs to the first animals in a kind of primordial American ocean. Here's the haiku if you can't read it on the scan:

A time reversing
Superman asteroid through
North America
