Sure, you could start the year off thinking things are great, but who are we kidding? If your looking for that shock of doom follow these instructions:
First watch Soylent Green. You may be able to shake this one off as silly. The future looks like Showbiz Pizza in 1986.
Second, watch Who Killed the Electric Car? There is no shaking this one, we are a foolish people and in the end we have little control over our lives.
Finally, pop in the remake of The Time Machine. You'll think it's time to relax and enjoy yourself. Only to find this the most shocking of them all. Why? Because you aren't expecting to watch the earth destroy itself in such a diabolical way. Most of the movie is a fun bit of sci-fi, but for those 10 minutes while Alexander travels into the future you will lose all hope.
It's not so bad...it's terrible.
On the other hand, you could watch the Back to the Future trilogy and walk away feeling ok.
